Current assignments and projects:
Painting Unit
• We look at different methods of painting on various surfaces from canvas to rice paper and using both paint and ink. We will look at how nature has inspired painters of many cultures and ages.
Materials wish-list: digital cameras, tripods, professional studio lights, darkroom equipment, backdrops, and anything that could help make a good photo. We also are looking for potential volunteers for field trips or for in-class projects.

May 14-18 > We will put the finishing touches on the 2018 Yearbook.
May 7-11 > We will continue to work on the 2018 yearbook.
April 23-27 > Students will be finishing up the Time-based Art project while also working on the yearbook.
April 16-20 > We will continue to work on both the Time-based Art Project and the 2018 Yearbook. **Seniors, please bring in photos from home that you would like on your yearbook page. **
April 9-13 > Students will work on the Time-based Art Project. See below for guidelines.
April 4-6 > We will hang up the artwork for the art exhibition at the Murphy-Wilmot Library on Friday. See the flyer above.
March 26-30 > Students will be putting final touches on the artwork for the art exhibit at the Murphy-Wilmot Library that will be installed next week. Students are also working on the Time-based Art project. Click here for project guidelines.
March 19-23 > Students will be working on getting artwork ready for the Murphy-Wilmot Library exhibition that will be on display in April. We will also begin working on the Time-based Art project by looking at examples in class.
March 5-9 > We will be making Sumi paintings using bamboo brushes and ink on rice paper.
Feb. 26-March 2 > We will put the finishing touches on our Bob Ross-style paintings before moving on to the chicken painting activity on Friday.
Feb. 19-22 > Three words: Bob. Ross. Week. We will continue painting chickens and landscapes, but this time get virtual help from the master of the wet-on-wet landscape painting process, Bob Ross himself (well in video form). We will also learn a bit about Bob Ross and his life from senior, Tanner Gonzaga.
Feb. 12-16 > Students use paint on various surfaces to create more chicken-themed artwork. We also look specifically at different painting techniques to prepare for next week's Bob Ross Landscape Painting week.
Feb. 5-9 > Students will work on their chicken-themed linoleum block designs and begin carving them on Tuesday 2/6. We also look at the work of our artist-of-the-week, David Hockney.
Jan. 29-Feb. 2 > Students will create a design for the linoleum block printing project. Click here for the project handout.

Jan. 22-26 > We finish up the stencil project and begin working on the first of two print-making projects. The artist-of-the-Week is an artist known as Swoon.
Jan. 16-19 > Students will work on the Banksy-style stencil project. Click here for the project description sheet. There is no artist-of-the week this week.
Jan. 8-12 > We look at our artist-of-the-week, Banksy, by watching the film, Exit Through the Giftshop. We also look at stencil-making techniques to make meaningful, Banksy-style imagery.
